Firstly we discuss about shortcut keys by using Alt key with Single keys.
Shortcut Keys with Alt + Single Key
Alt + Single Key | |
Alt + Pageup | Move the Sheet to Left side |
Alt + Page Down | Move the Sheet to Right side |
Alt + Down Arrow Key | For Dropdown List |
Alt + Enter | Add a New Line in the same cell |
Alt + Space Bar | Control Box |
Alt + Back Space | Undo |
Alt + Tab | Next Application |
Explanation:
Alt + Page up: We can move the screen of the sheet Horizontally forward. That means from the Lef side to the Right side.
Alt + Page down: We can move the screen of the sheet Horizontally Backward. That means from the Right side to the left side.
Alt + Down Arrow Key: We can have a drop-down list.
For example: In the below table we have the list of the flowers.

If we want to type any flower which is already in above just press the Alt + Down Arrow Key we will get the drop-down list and we select the required flower name.
- We no need to copy and paste the required word.
- This Shortcut will helpful while using Larger words.
Alt + Enter: We can add a New Line in the same cell.
- The Height of the Row Will Increase.
Alt + Space Bar: We can get the control Box, that having the Options like Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, and Maximize.
Alt + Tab: To Open the Another opened Window in the Taskbar.
Alt + Backspace: To Apply the Undo function which means to Remove the Applied Command to the Data.
- We can also use Ctrl + Z shortcut also.

Explanation:
Alt + A: In Excel, we have the Menu of Tabs like Home, File, Insert, Data, Page layout etc., After pressing the Alt + A we can activate the DATA Tab and choose the option which we require by typing the letters which are allocated to that option.
For Example Press Alt + A then the Data Tab will be activated and press the letter V for getting the Data Validation.
Alt + D: We will get the Data Menu if we are using the old version of 2003.
Alt + E: We will get the Edit Menu if we are using the 2003 version of M.S.Excel
Alt + F: We will get the options like Info, New, open, save, save as etc., which are in the File Tab.
Alt + H: We can activate the Home Tab and select the option which we want by typing the allocated Letter/s
Alt + I: To Activate the Insert Menu if we are using the 2003 version of M.S. Excel.
Alt + L: To Activate the Developer Tab, my dear friends if the Developer Tab doesn’t show you at Tab Menu we need to activate that Developer option in the Settings.
To Activate the Developer Tab please go through the path mentioned below.
File – Options – Customize Ribbon – Main Tabs – Developer (Activate) – OK.
Alt + M: To Activate Formula Tab and select the required option by typing the letter/s allocated to that option.
Alt + N: To Activate the Insert Tab.
Alt + O: We can Activate the Format Menu option if we are using the 2003 version of M.S. Excel.
Alt + P: We can Activate the Page Layout Tab in the Tab Menu.
Alt + R: To Activate the Review Tab.
Alt + T: We can activate the Tool Menu if we are using the 2003 version of M.S. Excel.
Alt + V: We can activate the Review Menu Bar in the 2003 Excel version.
Alt + W: To Activate the View Tab and select the required option by typing the letters which are allocated to that option.
